Tablelands Destination Development Project 2020 to 2025

Destination Southern New South Wales engaged Meredith to prepare the Tablelands Destination Development Plan 2020 to 2025 and five integrated local Destination Actions Plans to create a collaborative Regional Visitor Economy Action Planning Framework to guide the work of local, regional and state tourism stakeholders grow, develop and promote the region and its towns and villages as a distinct new, appealing and competitive tourism region in NSW.

The Project involved Destination Southern NSW, Destination NSW, Visit Canberra and the five Southern Tableland’s LGAs – Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Hilltops Council, Yass Valley Council, Upper Lachlan Shire Council and Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council.

The Tablelands Destination Development Plan is an important outcome of comprehensive visitor and consumer research, analysis and stakeholder engagement processes, and was prepared to integrate and leverage with other stakeholder strategic plans across local, regional and state/territory levels.

The 5 LGA Destination Action Plans were developed to integrate with the priorities of the Tablelands Destination Development Plan providing specific local level priorities and associated actions for each of the LGAs to develop and grow their visitor economies.

Priorities for the next five years focus on establishing a sound collaborative delivery framework to lead and implement the actions of this Plan, as well as supporting the five LGAs to further develop tourism product and experiences and infrastructure to position the region as a distinct tourism region to grow the Tablelands visitor economy.

Meredith continues to be engaged on the project as a strategic adviser. Early stage actions from the TDDP include the development (in progress) of a regional brand identity and positioning story for the Southern Tablelands.
